Redfish Lake to Banner Creek Summit ride
We met the gang from the Elephants Perch riding group at a cold but sunny Redfish Lake on Sunday morning. We got going around 10:30.
We had an accident in the group early, Terry from TF hit a wheel and went down hard. He broke his collar bone in two places. Note ** Always check your bike before riding, make sure brakes are working! He went down right in front of Jim and me so we saw the whole thing. His helmet saved his noggin, for sure.
The rest of the ride went well, 3 flat tires – one was mine. We had Cheryl’s little cutie, Emma, along to provide entertainment. What an easy child to be around, she was very happy.
Redfish was just beautiful. It was about 75 by the time we got back. Perfect for sitting on the lawn and recovering from the ride.

Bogus Basin hill climb information
Cycle Folsom has a file with information about last years Bogus Basin hill climb. It includes statistics and an interesting report with photos.
Last year it was so cold riding down I had to stop a couple times to warm up.

Sawtooth Century 2008
Good weather, good friends and good riding! We started out with the group of 150 or so from Ketchum Saturday August 16, 2008. It’s fun to ride through Ketchum and down Hwy. 75 to Elkhorn road with a police escort and the cars all stopped on the side of the road for you. Elkhorn hill always breaks up the crowd. We got into a group from Saddle Rd. to the SNRA where we made a pit stop. Then on to Galena Lodge where we stopped briefly before crossing the timer for the king/queen of the hill competition. It was slow (for me) up Galena, but steady. The ride down and into Alturas was great with very little wind for once.
We had a nice lunch at Alturas and quickly headed back out towards Galena. This time the ride up Galena was even slower for me but I made it. Going down was great and Jim and I really were moving until about Prairie Creek where we hit a head wind which got stronger as we neared Ketchum.
No fire this year! That is good news. It was perfect with very little wind and it seemed like everyone was having fun. We saw lots of friends on the ride and after. I’ll post a link to the results if I ever find them.
Nice ending to week with Galena metric century
Monday Marsha and I had a good ride out Greenhorn, with a workout called microbursts on Greenhorn road. We planned to join the festivities in Hailey for the “music walk”. We ended up at the Brewery with Ken and Jim meeting us for dinner. It was great to see so many people out and about in Hailey.
Thursday we planned a ride up to Twin Creeks. Josie joined Marsha, Jim and me for a while, until East Fork. She’s still getting over her knee injury. Marsha and I continued up to Elkhorn and caught up with Jim coming down TC. We had a good ride, Marsha’s first up that road.
Sunday Jim and I met Marsha and Andy and Jennifer at the SNRA building. We rode up to the top of the summit.
I ended up riding home from the SNRA, so I got in 65 miles. I was dead by the time I got home. It’s no fun riding into a headwind by yourself. I spend 3 hours recuperating and watching the tour until I felt alive again.

Mt. Harrison climb
Saturday, July 12, 2008. We took some pictures during the hill climb. It was 12 miles and all uphill. 4,000 ft. elevation gain. It was a fun ride, though, pretty country and not many cars on the road.
Here is a link to the photos on Picasa.
